Retrospective study on three-dimensional characteristics of mesiodens using CBCT in pediatric dentistry

The purpose of this study was to investigate the three-dimensional characteristics mesiodens using Cone-beam Computed Tomography(CBCT) and analyze factors affecting complications anesthetic methods extraction. This evaluated 602 452 patients who underwent extraction at department Pediatric Dentistry in Seoul National University Dental Hospital between 2017 2019. ratio over total patient per year gradually increased past 20 years. Mesiodens with labio-palatally horizontal direction while root directing labial were most common among direction. cervical side adjacent teeth(37.0%) located near-palatal observed about 3.83 times higher than far-palatal side. Most mesiodens(82.1%) contact permanent teeth on all three sides CBCT 46.2% had curved roots. patient’s age, vertical position, presence complications, proximity showed a significant difference selection general anesthesia methods. position effect complications. These results provide better understanding for establishing an accurate diagnosis treatment plan.
